Concert Weekend

Well I survived the weekend of concerts. It turns out that my good ol cousin Seth Philpott put a smakin' to Mr Norman. Nice work Seth.

So it turns out that the concert for Bebo was some kind of frat party that a Baylor frat puts on every year called Island Party. It is some kind of "Christian frat" which is a bit hard to swallow, a Christian frat? Right..... But anyways, it started at 6 on Friday afternoon and was supposed to go until midnight! Well Bebo didnt even start until 10:45, and by that time we had already endured an hour and a half of standing & listening to college dorks talking about their college problems and seen enough college boys that looked like they were 13 trying to hit on the girls (or at least acting like they were - you silly BU boys!) that even when Bebo finally went on there was no saving us. We left after a few songs and went to bed.

Now the next night promised to be an early evening as Seth was due to play from 8 to 9pm. So we met some friends for dinner at Cheddars around 5:45 and then made our way out to McGreggor to the Texas Tea & Coffee, a nice little cafe with some really good food (so I have heard). Seth did play from 8-9 and really did a great job. This was my first time to hear him play and I was impressed. So home we went and on to bed for a nice early evening and a good nights sleep..... Well not exactly. After the concert we went to Ninfas with Matt & Dawn and some friends to sit as they ate! And of course to hang out and eat free chips and green sauce.

We had a good time but two nights in a row of post-midnight bed times for me made for a rough morning at church on Sunday. But I dont think I was the only one nodding off at the 9o'clock service at HBC. All in all it was an enjoyable weekend capped off by driving back home to Leander and spending Sunday evening watching Law & Order C.I. & the pilot episode of the A-Team!

What a great show. Now how has it not been made into a modern day movie? Its like the only tv show that hasnt, whats up with that? So heres to seeing the black GMC van on the big screen. Actually, scratch that. Lets not make it into a movie, the show was too good and would only be turned into some kind of trash these days. So heres to A-Team season dvd's!

Well, thats all I have for now. I have been thinking about starting up a blog just for my random thoughts and keeping this one more for info and stuff about Marleene and I. Let me know what you think.

Another update

Well just to let everyone know Marleene and I will be coming into town, Waco that is, this weekend for a Bebo Norman concert at Baylor. As you may or may not know, Marleene is a major Bebo fan, and rarely misses one of his Waco appearances. So we will be making the drive this Friday for a free Bebo concert on the Fountain Mall at the big BU. Thankfully it is a free concert, which makes it all the more enjoyable. So if any of you have a hankerin to see us, or Bebo, let me know and I will give you some details of the concert time and stuff.

Here is Bebo at the last Bebo concert we went to. (Bebo is on the right, the one singing, not jsut looking around)

We will be getting our concert fill this weekend as we stay around for a concert by none other than my little cousin Seth(ro) Philpott, who will be playing his box on Saturday eve. Thanks Bebo for not scheduling yourself during Seths concert, we apreciate that. If any of you would like to see Seth play this Saturday eve, he is playing in McGregor at the Texas Tea & Coffee at 8pm. Come on out and support this poor fellow, and I do mean poor!

This is Seth, yes he is my cousin. (Sorry Seth that your pic is so much smaller than Bebo's, but this is the only one I could find of you when I Googled you)

So that does it for the concert tour this weekend, I think that will be all I will be able to handle, as you may or may not know, I am not much of a concert person. But getting to see friends and family again will make it all worth it. It will be nice to be back in Waco for the weekend, not that it has been all that long since we were last there, because we were up there two weekends ago for Justin & Lindsey's wedding shower. For those who dont know, Justin is Seth's older bro, and he is getting married to Lindsey Becton this summer, so congrats!

Well, thats all I have for today. Take it easy and if I see you this weekend, then cool!

Just an update.

Well since I have posted anything for a week or so I thought it was time to catch everyone up on what has been going on. Marleene finally moved in, which was met with joy from all three of her new roommates; me, Maggie & Zoe. It has been great actually living with my wife again, and what is even greater is living with Marleene in our own home. It has been great to see what its like to have a home that is just ours. We really haven't had that in our 2 1/2 years of marriage. Our first place being the apartment was the closest we have come. We are certainly grateful for the almost 2 years we spent living in the Nell Pape Garden Center and with my parents, but having a place that is really our is great.

I actually feel like a real homeowner now, yesterday Marleene and I went to Wal-Mart and bought a lawn mower and some flowers and we spent the entire day working outside. We painted the front door and shutters, mowed the yard, treated for slugs and other bugs, planting flowers and watering. It was a good day, the weather was incredible and it felt good to get outside and work in the yard, even Marleene enjoyed it! That girl is becoming a true yard worker, she spent more than an hour last week pulling weeds in our backyard, and spent all day outside with me working yesterday. She will have a green thumb by the end of the month!

Here is another picture of Zoe Bear, she is sure a cutie!

Well, thats all I have for now. Heres to a good week of American Idol (dissapointing last week, I think its a fix, but thats a whole other topic), Lost (which was very good last week, and as usual left us with some new twist!), Survivor (again, dissapointing as our favorites keep getting voted off), and what ever other shows I might watch in between.
