Marleene Job Update #2

Well everyone rejoice, Marleene got the job at the Arrow Project! She got the call today and will be starting her new job on Monday August 7. Thanks to everyone for your prayers during this time. We really appreciate it.

In other news, Marleene is the coolest wife in the world, she surprised me yesterday with an early birthday gift (yes my birthday is next Monday, July 31) and it just happened to be two tickets to the Rangers game on Saturday night! Flippin Sweet! I was expecting cologne for my b-day, but this is MUCH better! And to top it all off, its Mark Teixeira Bobble Head night! Its like two gifts in one! What a girl, thanks Marleene!

Marleene Job Update

Well Marleene has been a busy girl this past week or so. She got a call from the Arrow Project for an interview (as stated in previous post) and all went well with that. They called her back later that day (the day of the interview) for a 2nd interview which was Monday of this week, the 17th. Between her first interview and second interview with the Arrow Project she also got a call for an interview with ECI, Early Childhood Intervention, this one was set for today, the 21st. All seemed to go well on Monday with the 2nd interview with the Arrow Project and she should hear something early next week.
Her interview with ECI was this morning and seemed to go well and she should hear back from them mid-week next week. At this point Marleene is hoping for the Arrow Project job because of the more flexible schedule, they are flexible to her working at home after a year or so (which would be nice when we have young-uns afoot).
Thats all we know right now, she hasnt heard from any other jobs yet, but at this rate who know? We will keep you posted.

Good news!

Ok everyone, we have some good news, Marleene just called me to let me know that she has a job interview this Wednesday, July 12th with the Arrow Project. This is really an answer to many prayers as we have been searching for a job for Marleene. This has been a search that has spanned 3 plus months now so this interview is really a step in the right direction. So thank you to eveyone who has been praying for Marleene's job situation, but dont stop now! Wednesday will be very important as Marleene really feels this job is right up her alley. So please keep her in your prayers this week, we know God has everything planned out in His timing, but we are both ready for her to have a job.

In other news, we went to a Sunday School (ABF) picnic last night and really had a good time. We are one of the only couples in the class who dont have children, so we took Zoe with us and she did great, the kids really had fun petting her and pulling her tail! We were one of five couples who played the newlyweds game and were in the lead until the last question where we ended up tying for first with two other couples! But we had a great time and got to know some of the other couples in the class a little bit better.

Wow, updates on back to back days! Dont expect me to keep this up but do look for a new report on Wednesday after Marleene's interview. Until next time...

4th of July and beyond

Ok so its been a while but here we go. I will try to get the past month or so into a short blog, so if I start to ramble just skip a few lines. Marleene and I have been doing good, we have gotten involved in a local church. (I say local even though it takes us 30 minutes to get there) it is actually located in Round Rock. There is a young marrieds class that we have been attending and have really enjoyed it. It has really been a change having been at Highland for most of my life to then be going to a completly different church now. Central is not much like Highland, its much more laid back and casual and much more diverse (though this may be due to its closeness to Austin ). But its been a great fit for us and we try to go almost every Sunday.

And just so everyone knows, Marleene is still looking for a full-time job, yes she is selling Mary Kay on the side, but we are really getting anxious for her to have a "real" job. Who would have know that she would have an easier time getting a job in Waco than down here in the Austinplex? So keep that in your prayers for us will ya!

Last weekend we went to Mexia to celebrate the 4th of July with some of my family. It was nice to get away from work for a couple of days and just relax. Although it was weird, as we were driving home from our trip I realized that I did absolutely no fishing! It hardly even crossed my mind to put my pole together and fish, and the fish were actually biting somewhat! I dont know what in the world was wrong with me, I guess I was just glad to get away from those crazy old people of Sun City! We did take Maggie and Zoe with us, which turned into quite the experience. Zoe has a bit of a sensitive stomach, at least she does while riding in the car. So about 45 mins into our trip we start to smell something, turn around and there is Zoes breakfast all over her kennel, pillow and the backseat of my truck! Poor Maggie is scooting herself as far away from it as possible, but she can only go so far.

So we pulled of 35 and spent about half and hour cleaning up dog sick! To make matters worse we then got stuck in holiday traffic, some fool had obviously decided to have a wreck and turn 35 into a parking lot. All in all a trip that should have taken about 2 hours took us 4!

But we got there at last and had a good time. We took the dogs "swimming" in the river which turned out to be quite commical.
Here Zoe & Maggie are ready for their swim. The poor things didnt actually enjoy their venture into the water, but it didnt help that we had to actually throw them in to get them in the river. No where for them to climb in and out on there own. We do have plans to take them to our neighborhood pond and let them try their paw and swimming again, but this time on their own time frame and without the life jackets. But where the dogs didnt enjoy the cool of the river, the rest of us did, it was just like 4th of July of yesteryear as we had the whole fam in the brownish-green water. The list goes like this: Steve & Liz (aunt & uncle of mine) with their kids David, Sarah, Mikey & Sam. Matt & Dawn (and Levi), Daisy (the aforementioneds pooch) Doc & Marleene and Speedy & Elaine. The only person that we at the river with us who didnt get in was Granny, but shes 70! The water was nice and cold in some places and refreshingly warm in others. Most of us took advantage of being in the water to bathe and the small kids took their turn off a rope swing. All in all it was a lot of fun.

The trip home was as uneventful as it could get, no puke and no wrecks, we got home and had the rest of the evening and the next day to sit around and relax. Of course until the kids in the neighborhood started shooting off fireworks that scared the dogs out of their little minds! But thats another story. Looking ahead we've got the Stripling clan coming down for a visit next weekend. Should be a full house! Then we have a week off of travel or visiters where we might be having a garage sale followed by the next weekend being our birthdays where we will travel to Arlington to celebrate 5 birthdays in one, Mark (July 19), Marleene (July 28), Maggie (July 29), Doc (July 31) & Eleene (Aug 1). (Mark & Eleene are Marleenes parents, for those of you who dont know) So July looks to be filled to the boiling point and about to blow!

I will keep you updated on how things are going, hopefully a little more regularly, that way these things wont be so long! Till next time...
