3 day weekend

So Marleene and I both had last Friday off, you know, since it was Good Friday and all, and everyone knows there is no such thing as a "good Friday" when you have to work. All Fridays should be "good," meaning, NO WORK! Here's to a 4 day work week and a 3 day weekend, every week, every month, every year.

But anyways, I took my time off on Friday to do a little yard work, I had picked up some plants on the cheap during the week and saw fit to make sure they lived their fullest in my yard, instead of in the pots in my garage where they had been for the week.

Crape Myrtle, Variegated Privet, Esperanza, Salvia Greggii (previously installed) Maiden Grass and Aztec Grass with a nice layer of Cypress mulch and limestone border makes for a looking bed in the back corner. All in all it took me about 3 hours on Friday to remove the grass, cut in the trench for the edging, install the plants and mulch. Not too bad, felt good to get outside and do some physical labor, break a sweat, get my hands dirty, plus Marleene was working on the computer inside, so I stayed out of her hair which she appreciated.
Saturday held a full day of shopping as Marleene and I got out of the house and went to some local shopping centers, followed up by a nice dinner at Casa Ole. Sunday we had our Easter service at church, the Justin Cofield Band rocked the house and Jeff Mangum (our pastor) brought the Resurrection story in a way that was fresh and encouraging. It was a good weekend, I do love me some 3 day weekends.

Michael Scott Quote of the Day March 17, 2008

Sorry for the break in the quotes, Marleene and I were both down with the flu for a while, but we're back. So here is todays quote!

Michael Scott: The company has made it my responsibilty today to put an end to 100,000 years of being weirded out by gays.

And since I missed a few days, here's an Andy quote.

Andy Bernard: Oompa loompa, doompadee dawesome, Dwight is now gone, which is totally awesome. Why was he gone, he was such a nice guy. No, he was not, he was a total douche. Doompadee doom.

Michael Scott Quote of the Day Wednesday March 5

The most sacred thing I do is care. And provide for my workers, my family. I give them money. I give them food. Not directly, but through the money. I heal them. Today I am in charge of picking a great new healthcare plan. Right, that’s what this is all about. Does that make me their doctor? Um… yes. In a way. Yeah, like a specialist.

And as an added bonus, here is a Dwight Schrute quote. Happy Wednesday!

The problem, Jim, is that people who are really suffering from a medical condition won't receive the care they need because someone in this office is coming up with ridiculous stuff. Count Choculitis....Why did you write that down, Jim? Is it because you know I love Count Chocula?

Michael Scott Quote of the Day Tuesday March 4

My proudest moment here wasn't when I increased profits by 17%, or cut expenditure without losing a single member of staff. No no no. It was a young Guatamalan guy, first job in the country, barely spoke a word of English, but he came to me and said "Mr. Scott, will you be the godfather to my child?" Didn't work out in the end. We had to let him go. He sucked.

Michael Scott Quote of the Day

I am starting a new era in my blog, the Michael Scott Quote of the Day. We started watching "The Office" last month and have become completely obsessed with it. So here we go.

Abraham Lincoln once said that "If you're a racist, I will attack you with the North," and these are the principles I carry with me in the workplace.
